Say YES to Jesus

Admitting you are a sinner is the first step toward saying YES to Jesus. If you never believe you have sin in your life, you will never seek forgiveness for your sin.

  • Romans 3
    • 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
    • 24 Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.
    • 25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past,
    • 26 for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he makes sinners right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.

Believe that he has fully made a way for your sins to be forgiven - then acknowledge your need for him to do that work within you. In Christian circles we call that 'confession' - the big term that means we actually tell Jesus that we have sinned and need him to wipe away the stain of that sin.

Some believe they cannot say YES to Jesus until they 'clean up' their lives a bit (or a lot). We don't wash up before we take a shower, do we? We get in the shower and then allow the shower to do the work of 'cleaning us up'. The same is true with Jesus - we admit we are sinners and that we trust him to do the 'clean up' in our lives as he sees fit. As we acknowledge our need for him to forgive those sins, guess what he does? He FORGIVES.

Simply put:

Romans 3:23 - we are all sinners

Romans 6:23 - eternal life is received as a FREE gift

Romans 5:8 - God's love is demonstrated in Christ's life, death, and resurrection

Romans 10:9-10 - saying YES to Jesus is the means to forgiveness

Romans 10:13 - we can be certain of that forgiveness

So, if you are ready to say YES to Jesus today, just tell him. Ask him to forgive your sins (the ones you know about and the ones you have forgotten). Let him know you trust him to do the work he promised to do when ANYONE asks him to be their Lord and Savior. Then begin to walk with him each day by taking time to listen to his voice - through the Word of God, good Bible teaching, and time in prayer.

Welcome to the Family of God!
