Gifts, Service, and Works
There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. (I Corinthians 12:4-6) Different - dissimilar in some way - to some, it even carries the connotation of something being inferior to something else but is it always inferior? When you can buy the name brand or the generic, is one always inferior to the other? While I sometimes think there is a clear difference in 'quality' when it comes to buying "the real deal" or the "knock-off", I don't think this applies to the gifts God bestows in our lives. None of the gifts from God are "inferior" to any other gift, service or work. If they are "different", it simply means one stands as unique to the other.
