Let me show you something....

Truth be told, many of us are more concerned with a list of lessons we have amassed during the time we refer to a "living" life. What we need to be doing is asking God directly for lessons that would help us "live" life. Sometimes I think we approach things the first way - making mental note of what we learned FROM the moments we just finished living rather than making heart notes of what lessons God wants for us IN those moments. We get focused on it from a 'historical' perspective more than we are focused on it in the 'present' perspective. We might just be missing out on some of what God has for us in the 'living'. God, teach me lessons for living so I can stay the course. Give me insight so I can do what you tell me—my whole life one long, obedient response. I am headed somewhere, but where?

We don't always get clear-cut warnings we are about to embark on a journey that will take us down pathways we don't want to explore. I remember exploring some forest roads with my BFF and we went down one only to realize we were going to 'high-center' on a portion because the ruts dug by 4-wheel vehicles had left a pretty gnarly path for us 2-wheel types. I found myself on this narrow road, with only one way out - backwards! I had to back up quite a ways in order to get myself turned around and headed back to a road more easily traveled. We can find ourselves about to 'high-center' in life, too - knowing full-well the only 'way out' is exactly the way we came in and that isn't very easily navigated either! Barricade the road that goes Nowhere; grace me with your clear revelation. I choose the true road to Somewhere, I post your road signs at every curve and corner. I grasp and cling to whatever you tell me; God, don't let me down! I'll run...
