All I have seen...

I cannot help but recall the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson as he penned, "All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen." When scientists try to explain the creation without the inclusion of a Creator, it is hard for me to understand that way of thinking. The greatness, power, glory, and majesty of the Creator are displayed in brilliance in all he has created - the universe, this earth, our bodies, and even our souls. We might not understand how God made all of this out of a formless void - bringing life from within the darkness of that void - but his power is way beyond our understanding anyway!

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. (I Chronicles 29:11)

God isn't going to create and then leave his creation to figure it all out on their own. He is right here, overseeing all that he has created. Man's choice to discount his work, deny his presence, or devalue his majesty and power is really a disappointment to him. We have been given a choice to believe he is the Creator of all things (us included), actively caring for all his creation or deny his existence and wallow in our own frustrating issues of life. What is it we need to trust the Creator with today? What is it we have not seen, but have been trusting God will accomplish by his power? What is it that we hope to see that we have been seeking to understand? God is here - just ask him.

The greatness of God goes beyond our flimsy attempts to 'fix' this world, our community, or our own family. The glory of God becomes evident when we look deep enough into his word and see the brilliance of his work within and around us. The victory of God may seem like it is far off, but he transforms our lives each and every day - proclaiming victory over death, hell, and sin with each breath he gives. The majesty of God is displayed anytime we submit to his authority in our lives, allowing the splendor of his grace and goodness to renew us and revive our spirits. We might not have all the answers we seek, but we know the one who is capable of 'creating' the exact answer we need - we only need to ask. Just sayin!
