Thus says the Lord who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to establish it—the Lord is His name, ‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and tell you [and even show you] great and mighty things, [things which have been confined and hidden], which you do not know and understand and cannot distinguish.’ (Jeremiah 33:2-3)
Consider for a moment that the one who formed this earth with the purpose of establishing it would actually reveal to us things that have been hard to understand - things hidden from the naked eye. This is what he promises - to reveal what we don't know, find difficult to understand, and have a hard time distinguishing. That might explain how we can know when the enemy of our souls is trying to pull a fast one on us! We only need to call upon him in order to be able to see clearly what Satan would have us never see in the first place!
Call - I will answer. Seems pretty straightforward, doesn't it? Yet, we find ourselves muddling around in all manner of murky situations, without a clue as to what is happening, all the while neglecting to 'call' upon Jesus for the answers. At times, it isn't until the murkiness gets too great and the pressure is too strong against us that we actually seek his help in distinguishing the truth from the lie. The sooner we call upon him, the quicker we will find that he reveals enough light that we can see where darkness is lurking!
When we want to understand him better, we can turn to the pages of his Word. When we want to be able to distinguish his ways and be alert to any other 'plan' that might oppose those ways, we need to take time to ask for his wisdom. When God set out to establish this earth, we were part of his plan. He desires to show us how we 'fit' into that plan - for he has prepared great and mighty things for our lives that we will only know if we ask him to show us. There is a lot on our plates, but when we take time to understand what is on that plate and how it fits into our lives, we might also see what doesn't belong there.
The more we seek God's help in understanding or distinguishing what 'belongs' and what needs to go, the more he will reveal. We often don't ask for his insight, then wonder why we are all mired down by the circumstances. Ask him for help in seeing what you may not be seeing clearly right now. You might just be surprised by what he reveals. Just sayin!
