A little prepping required

God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ—which is to fulfill his own good plan. And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth. (Ephesians 1:9-10)

At the right time - there have been hundreds of people who have tried to 'predict' the exact time of the 'end of the world'. All of those predictions have been debunked, one-by-one falling away as mere speculation. Scripture says, "“However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. “When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat. People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes." (Matthew 24:37-39) Only the Father knows. Put that together: At the right time - only the Father knows.

We can predict the weather and prepare for the likelihood we will be snowed in for a few days. We can predict the change of seasons, knowing we will soon need to prepare for the conversion from air conditioning to heat. We can predict a grown child will need a place of their own soon, preparing for their needs as they move out of the family home. Predictions are mere speculation when it comes to things more 'spiritual' or 'divine' in nature. Preparation doesn't rely upon predictions when it comes to all things that are spiritual in nature. Preparation is a daily readiness that doesn't count on a specific day or time - it makes the one who has 'prepared' ready at ALL times.

How does one 'prepare' for the return of Jesus? It begins today, continues into each tomorrow we receive, and never wanes in its focus. If we want to be ready when Jesus returns, we prepare for his return, but we don't grow weary if the timing isn't as quick as we'd like it to be. People didn't realize - that was the condition of heart and mind during the time of Noah. I daresay, there are a great many who don't realize the time is near today. Those who anticipate his return 'prepare' their heart, ask him to 'focus' their minds, and 'maintain' their readiness through an ongoing and vital relationship with Jesus. We are 'most ready' when we are the closest to him. A prepared heart is a ready heart. Just sayin!
