Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (Romans 8:35,37 NLT)
I have run across individuals who actually believe troubles in their lives mean they have done something wrong or have abandoned their faith. Troubles are part of life. Calamity comes when we least expect it and usually from sources we have absolutely no control over. Danger surrounds us every day, even when we aren't aware of it. These things don't mean we are doing something wrong. It could actually mean we are doing something right!
Satan isn't going to be very pleased when we press into our relationship with Jesus. In fact, he will take notice of us drawing closer to God quicker than he will notice those who only warm the pews on Sundays. He isn't threatened by the 'pew warmers' but he is threatened by those who are praying for things in heaven and earth to move against him! Herein is the rub for many who want a closer relationship with Jesus. They want the benefits of the relationship, but they don't want Satan to get wind of their intensity of desire to draw nearer to Jesus!
Unfortunately for those of us who want to press into Jesus more and more each day, the powers of darkness that operate in this earth aren't going to let that intensity of desire go unchallenged. There will always be a conflict in the spiritual realm for the soul that isn't content to warm a pew! We just don't have to fear it, be overwhelmed by it, or come to the conclusion that God has abandoned us to it. He doesn't abandon his children - never has, never will.
It is Satan's mission to make us believe God abandons us in our troubles. He uses those troubles as a taunt of sorts, hoping we will question God's goodness and grace, distracting us from pressing in any further. In those moments, we need to send a clear and certain message back to the powers of darkness: WE WON'T BE MOVED! Nothing can separate us from his love and that means nothing can separate us from his care and protection. NOTHING. When evil comes against you, send it packing with the Word of God and the intensity of your faith. Evil has no inroad in your life because you are a child of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Just sayin!
