A lifetime of surrender

Therefore He is able also to save forever (completely, perfectly, for eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede and intervene on their behalf [with God]. (Hebrews 7:25 Amplified Bible)

Able to save - not imperfectly, but perfectly. Salvation is a one-time event with a lifetime provision for our 'sanctification', which is just a big word that means to be made right, living right, with provision to make right choices in a consistent manner. Our salvation differs from our sanctification - one is instant, while the other takes a lifetime of renewed commitment and obedience to what God asks.

We come to God through Jesus - there is no other way. While we'd like to think there are other ways 'into heaven', there aren't. Many will try the route of good works, believing that when they do good often enough, they are generally good people so God will let them pass those pearly gates. Some will try the route of 'other religions' or 'spiritual experiences', but those aren't going to be any better because they all serve a false god. There is but one way - Jesus!

Jesus stands on our behalf, making intercession on our behalf. Why? We don't have any other access into the throne room of God than through his blood and our trust in his finished work. The more we share our need with Jesus, the more comfortable we become in sharing our hopes, fears, aspirations, failures, and hangups with him, the more we are going to understand his grace and intense love for us.

God isn't impressed with our good works, nor is he delighted to share any part of his creation with any other god. He desires sole access to our soul as much as we desire sole access to his grace! There is but one way into his grace - Jesus. There are many other choices we could make, but none will serve us as well, nor gain us as much as the one choice to follow Jesus. Inviting him into our lives, giving him our hearts, and focusing on his commands with an obedient heart is the aim of all who say yes to him. In turn, we can expect that our 'sanctification' will be a lifetime of consistently surrendering to him in humble obedience. Just sayin!
