Do you desire that connection?

All heaven will praise your great wonders, Lord; myriads of angels will praise you for your faithfulness.
For who in all of heaven can compare with the Lord? What mightiest angel is anything like the Lord?
The highest angelic powers stand in awe of God. He is far more awesome than all who surround his throne. O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies! Where is there anyone as mighty as you, O Lord? You are entirely faithful. (Psalm 89:5-8 NLT)

Where is there anyone or anything as mighty as our God? Not only is he mighty - but he is also faithful beyond our wildest imaginings. We might dwell upon that a bit today, ruminating a bit on his faithfulness to each of us. If we recall his faithfulness time and time again, we begin to develop a 'habit' of praise and worship. We actually want to 'celebrate' his faithfulness - it comes forth in the natural discourse of our day.

Myriads of angelic beings may surround his throne, but the most beautiful sound God ever hears is that of our voice raised in worship. The more we worship him, the greater our connection with him. The God of Angel Armies is mighty - celebrate him in your life. We cannot enter into his presence flippantly, though. We enter with awe and reverence.

Reverence suggests there is first a deep connection with him, and then it carries the idea of outwardly expressing this deep connection. We enter into worship because there is a connection that is being made as we do. A humble and contrite heart may not always mean we have been behaving in the purest of ways, but it means we acknowledge our need for forgiveness (grace) and are grateful for his love. We don't want anything to interfere with that connection.

Mighty armies have resisted God. Powerful men have stood against him, denying his power, only to stand defeated and ashamed in the end. God will always be exalted. He will always be the strength we can lean into and lean upon. He will not turn away from a humble and contrite man who repents of his sin and wants to make a fresh start in life. Can that fresh start be more than once? You bet! God isn't going to turn away from us - he desires nothing more than our connection.

His faithfulness is never going to be interrupted even when our sinfulness interrupts that connection at times. Call upon him. Exalt his name. Give him the reverence he is due. Celebrate his goodness and grace. Recount his many blessings. Give honor to the one who never leaves or forsakes his creation. When we desire the connection, he is honored! Just sayin!
