Is that flaw permanent?

Look, all of you are flawed in so many ways, yet in spite of all your faults, you know how to give good gifts to your children. How much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to all who ask! (Luke 11:13 VOICE)

How many times do we think of ourselves as 'flawed' in some manner? We look in the mirror and see that blemish on our face - flawed. We see our outfit next to the lady wearing the latest fashion - flawed. We hear someone talking about their big new house and remember the broken door hinge in our bathroom - flawed. We have so many ways we view our lives as 'flawed', but the biggest one is when we believe the lie that our lives are beyond God's repair!

The imperfect is made perfect because God gave us the gift of his Holy Spirit to indwell us, helping us learn to see ourselves as he sees us - no longer flawed! The sin we pursued left us flawed. The presence of God with us because we said yes to Jesus leaves us NO LONGER FLAWED. Nothing within us is beyond his 'repair'. If it cannot be repaired, he will remove it because the 'broken' doesn't belong in the renewed! Whenever we acknowledge we have 'flaws', we are asking God to take them into his hands, correct what can be corrected and remove that which cannot.

If it has been a while since you really stopped to thank God for his Spirit in your life, maybe today would be a good day to start taking notice of his presence once again. We all hear that still small voice, knowing it to be God's voice because it is leading us toward goodness and not toward evil. We all feel some urge to avoid something that isn't right for us, knowing it is his Spirit attempting to lead us away from what will only bring us sorrow and a sense of deep regret. We need to pay closer attention to those 'still small voice' and 'urgings' that point us away from what will leave us feeling 'flawed'.

God's gift to us in his Holy Spirit is more than a 'boost' to our conscience. In giving us his Spirit, his presence with us at all times, he gives us the ability to make right choices even when our conscience will repeatedly justify an action as 'okay' or 'not all that bad'. The power to live right is part of his presence with us. It is more than a 'feeling' - it is life-giving power. We don't resist sin's pull in our own efforts. We resist it because his Spirit prompts us into some form of action to resist it. We might just want to welcome his presence with us today in a fresh way. Why? We stand stronger with him. We choose wisely because of him. We see one less 'flaw' because of him. That flaw is not permanent where his Spirit is at work. Just sayin!
