The Lord will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me. (Psalm 138:8 NLT)
The Lord WILL work out his plans for your life. Did you hear that correctly? Do you believe it to be true? Are you questioning how something is happening right now in your life? We all find ourselves in positions from time to time where we don't really understand what is happening, possibly even questioning if God has abandoned us. In those moments, recall this passage - he WILL work out his plans for your life, because he is the God of unfailing love that never quits!
God's protection in our lives isn't based on how well we perform - you can thank heaven for that! Our behavior isn't going to alter God's protection over our lives, but it doesn't alter the fact that bad decisions can lead to unwanted consequences. God is still protecting us, even when the consequences come our way. It is like an umbrella - it is there, doing what it always does, even when the 'rains' come as a result of our misbehaving!
What are God's plans for your life today? So many times, we just trudge ahead, without even stopping to consider God may have different intentions for our day. We casually 'mention' them to him in our prayer time, but do we actually stop to seek his guidance before we trudge off into those things? When we miss the opportunity to hear from God about what our day might hold, or what he may want for us in our day, we are kind of stepping out from the shelter of our 'umbrella'. Not a good place to be.
His unfailing love is with us, even when we don't feel it, or have those warm fuzzies we get when we are really celebrating his presence. Abandonment is not possible, even when we get outside of his 'umbrella' of protection - he still has a host of heavenly armies ready to step in on our behalf. It would be good if we never needed their intervention, but until we learn to trust God fully with our day, heeding his promptings to do certain things while leaving other things alone, we might find ourselves in need of a little more intervention than we might imagine.
God's plan - we'd seek him first in all we do. Obedience begins when we stop fighting his plan! Just saying....
