Do you always have 20/20 insight?

Back in the day, when I was attempting to learn guitar, I had the standard black guitar case. I covered that thing with bumper stickers because it was the 'in' thing in those days. I had a peace sign, smiley face, and some with messages. One of those stickers read something along the line, "God hasn't forgotten your number, have you remembered his?" It was a reminder that we never stray from his line of sight, nor are we 'out of range' when it comes to 'dialing in' with him to discuss anything and everything!

Call to me - there is no other source we can call upon that will provide the same purposeful answers, or the interventions we require. We aren't just raising 'concerns' with God, we are taking the time to honor him with our words, but much more with our thoughts. Our thoughts center on him - making the foundation of our prayers surer. We might think we can just march right into his throne room, announce what we 'need' and walk away, but God isn't a genie in a bottle granting our every wish.

God asks us to call upon him, the maker of all things, the one who sustains all things. We may not hear the answer we want right away, but when we lift our needs before him, we can be certain he is listening and has already answered. Once we ask, we would do well to just sit and listen, even for a bit. Why? God wants to tell us 'marvelous and wondrous things' that we can never figure out on our own! When we don't take time to listen and spend all our time before him talking, we don't have the benefit of the wondrous things he'd prepared to show us if we just listened.

The 'listening' part of prayer is harder than we may think because it requires us to 'still our minds' and we all know how hard that may be in this day and age. We can become so distracted by what we 'think' must be 'done' that we miss just spending time at his feet in worship, praise, and silent adoration. It is in those moments when he most frequently speaks deep into our spirit. Maybe he doesn't answer our prayer right then and there, but he brings peace that settles our weary hearts, and he might just urge us to take the next step we have been reluctant to take.

That part of not being able to figure this stuff out all on our own is so very true. To say otherwise is to elevate oneself over God! We need his insight, even when we think we have it all figured out. His vision far exceeds 20/20 - it sees to infinity! Our insight is too frequently "in-sight" - we see things the way we think they are, but we don't take time to see them the way he does. Just sayin!
