Notice the small stuff

My advice is wholesome. There is nothing devious or crooked in it. My words are plain to anyone with understanding, clear to those with knowledge. Choose my instruction rather than silver, and knowledge rather than pure gold. For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with it. (Proverbs 8:8-11 NLT)

Nothing more to be desired - nothing more to be gained. Wisdom that comes from the heart of God is all we need or could ever desire. Whenever we choose his instruction as our guide, we are choosing to lay down our rebellious way of living and the wisdom our present world-system might tell us is important. We choose to listen to one voice rather than to a multitude of 'worldly counselors' and 'doomsday naysayers'.

Wisdom that emanates from the throne of God is more valuable than any earthly knowledge we can amass, yet we seem to seek it after all our earthly wisdom has failed us. Why is it we rely so heavily on what might present itself as 'right' or 'true', but never really test that knowledge to ensure it aligns with God's Word? It is an 'easy fix' for whatever we see as a challenge before us.

The more we learn from God's Word, the less likely we are to pursue the concocted schemes of this world. We aren't going to be duped into believing they are better than the truth God offers. Silver is good, gold is more valuable, but the Word of God is even more valuable than all of the world's riches. So why do we choose to follow those 'riches' instead of seeking the riches God offers?

The choice to get into God's Word is the starting point for our viewpoint to begin to change. The more we discover about him through his Word, the more we can see where this world's 'wisdom' isn't really all that 'wise'. We might just discover that some of the ways we have chosen to do things in life aren't all that smart. We must then lay down those 'unwise' choices and move in a different direction.

The Word of God sometimes changes our course, doesn't it? When we listen to his Word and then actively choose to obey what it says, we realize we are making some 'course corrections'. We begin to realize some of what we have believed or accepted as truth is really nothing more than a smokescreen to cleverly mask some scheme of the devil to keep us off course with God's best for our lives.

Wisdom calls out. Will we listen and obey? It may seem like 'little things' that are 'targeted' in our lives, but if you haven't realized it yet, those 'little things' become the 'big things' that actually destroy our peace, rob us of our joy, and take us down paths we shouldn't have discovered at all! Pay attention to the small stuff God exposes through his Word and then act upon it. The wise choice is always obedience to the small stuff! Just sayin!
