What will you do?

We have a nest of hawks high up on one of the building ledges at work. The nest appeared last year after much work from the large birds to interweave the parts that have now held together through many a high winds, rain storm, and even monsoon or micro-burst blast. Throughout the year, we have observed the various hawks, probably some of the three that were birthed in that nest and their parents, returning to the high perches of our hospital wings. The season is upon for them to return to the nest, fluff it up for the next 'go round' of wee ones to be birthed, and then to sit atop that perch until the little ones are ready to take flight. Their flight is majestic, huge wingspan carrying them aloft in no time, able to soar high above in attentive circles of what seems like the most graceful of maneuvers. Sometimes they call out, but most of the time they just soar.  Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.   Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand fi...

Footloose and Fancy Free

Have you seen one of those social media posts, depicting some rotary dial phone or old flour sifter from Grandma's kitchen? Each one asks if you are 'old enough' to remember what these items are, and each of them are things I remember well, so I guess I am not only 'old enough', but I am getting downright old! Kids today will remember other things. I saw a post last night depicting a cell phone charger and plug, indicating that it was a 'teenager's umbilical cord'. Times were different when we were children. Back in the 60's no one thought it odd to allow their children to play in the front yard - oftentimes running from one neighbor to the next depending on who had the neatest toys to play the next go-round of imaginary game play. Today, we observe kids inside, in front of media device, often because we have a society in which we do not feel comfortable allowing them to run "loose and free". Sad, isn't it? I wonder, though, just ho...

Own up to it

Admitting we have done something wrong is sometimes harder than it seems. If you have ever gone down the wrong way on a one way street, chances are you have been honked at a little, shown a few hand gestures, and probably talked about a little behind those windows of passing cars! If you have ever found yourself using the bathroom clearly labeled for the opposite sex, only to come out, realize your mistake, and see that there are others who have  noticed your mistake, you probably felt about two inches tall at that moment. I have done both! There - I owned up to it - think what you will, but mistakes happen, wrong choices get made, and we live with the consequences probably more than we'd ever like to admit. What we do with those wrong choices 'in the moment' makes all the difference. If we say we have an intimate connection with the Father but we continue stumbling around in darkness, then we are lying because we do not live according to truth. If we walk step by step ...
